According to this article, early 8530s contained blue, red, green, and black Kaukau but not orange or clear Kaukau. Is there any evidence or proof of this? It is theorized that yellow and light blue were replaced with orange and clear but to the best of my knowledge that is only a theory. This article treats it as fact. Furthermore, this article says that early 8530s did not contain infected Hau (by listing the 48 Kanohi as being the only ones included in early 8530s); this is evidenced as true by the cited Lugnet article not mentioning infected Hau, but that is far from being proof. -Turaga of Force

When it comes to set contents, citations can only go so far. The physical sets are what they are, and you can't exactly prove a negative. The neon orange and clear Kaukau were introduced with the Turaga-colored masks, and the infected Hau wasn't introduced until well after that. One of the Lugnet comments also mention the Infected Hau as a new discovery with the corrected packs. ~ Wolk (talk) 11:38, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Why do you say the orange and clear Kaukau were introduced with the Turaga masks? You may well be correct, it would make sense and was my theory too. I am just curious if there is any evidence for this besides fairly arbitrary assumption. -Turaga of Force

Element ID numbers give us a decent chronology here. It's easiest to just link this spreadsheet which compiled some of them: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17hRhzagTGwiSroqkkpgHo8u1oHHnEy4t/edit?gid=1296009750#gid=1296009750 The initial set of masks (i.e. those found in the original pack) are 4144162-4144199 (with some predating those), then the addition of the four remaining noble masks, and four more colors (with purple and neon green filling the last two spots for the Kaukau) coming later, being 4144201-4144272. At that point, it was 10x12. Whenua and Nuju came later (4144505-4144521 - note that before then the drill was assigned to Onewa). The infected mask is at 4158281, and the grey masks start down at 4158715. In any case, my main purpose with the citations was to explain what happened with the set, not the set contents. There is also the rumor of the brown Komau and possibly white Huna having been found in packs... Those two are still mysterious. ~ Wolk (talk) 01:10, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Alright thanks. And yeah I am aware of the brown Komau and white Huna mystery, but given that they are so rare, they are clearly not part of the standard lineup, so it makes sense they didn't have IDs in the same range. Purple and neon green Kaukau is interesting, I wonder if they briefly considered swapping Lewa to neon green when they swapped Pohatu and Kopaka to orange and clear. -ToF

Maybe. IDs for the brown Komau / white Huna also exist among the 10-color masks. ...And then there's the Metru Brown Komau (4220057) to not confuse it with, which was an 04 prototype, either for Ahkmou or Onewa.
