Talk:RoboRiders
Original storyline description
For posterity, this is the description originally listed under this page's storyline:
- An unknown visitor to the world wreaked havoc upon the world by unleashing a treacherous virus that threatened their very existence. To counter this threat, the denizens of the world crafted for themselves wheel-shaped armor, and vehicles resembling motorcycles that would carry them around. Firing the riders in their wheel armor would unleash a devastating elemental attack.
This was marked as needing a citation. As far as I can tell, the earliest source of this information comes from the Brickipedia article, specifically this 2010 revision by Sparky!, also known as SparkyTheSecond and Sparkytron on various websites like YouTube. However, while Sparky's YouTube channel and Brickshelf gallery are excellent repositories of LEGO archives, I can't tell where they got this particular information from; they apparently haven't been online in over a decade, so we can't ask them either. It was later removed from the Brickipedia article as an unsourced rumor, with this edit done by Tazakk, another good source for verifiable LEGO information. Therefore, I opted to remove it entirely from this article as well, and just stick to what's in magazines and on the website. --PeabodySam (talk) 19:14, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Just two quick updates. One is that Sparky is still active on Twitter (or X, or whatever it's called now...), so I asked them about this info and they could not recall any story sources aside from the website. The other is that this story info was described by BZPower member Etcetere in 2005, five years before Sparky edited Brickipedia. Is this where Sparky got this info from? Maybe. However, it doesn't mention the virus being unleashed by a big bad, unlike Sparky's version, although this may have come from Onuki vaguely recalling a powerful unseen enemy of the RoboRiders (but also admitting that this might be misremembering). Unfortunately, Etcetere still doesn't provide a source beyond saying that this is what they remember, so this is still uncited. --PeabodySam (talk) 22:02, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
