The set consists of 390 pieces.

Features

The set has four silver spheres, which can be loaded into the set's launcher, the H-Force Launcher (also called the H4 Force Ball Shooter in the set's LEGO.com description) to serve as ammunition. Additionally, the set includes a sticker sheet for decorating some of the pieces. The launcher could be fired by spinning a wheel on the top. Additionally, on the underside the set had a handle, a trigger, and two grasping arms which can be used to carry a canister from any Hero set (representing a Hero Pod in the story). The canister can be grasped by pulling the trigger, and dropped by releasing it. The wings move down when the arms are opened, and move back up when the arms are closed.

Unlike the Hero canister sets in 2010, the Hero from this set has different arm and foot pieces. The Hero's legs do not have armor.

Collectibles

The set includes a blue helmet and a silver Hero Core. Some parts of the Drop Ship have various stickers.

Trivia

• The prototype version of the set's box has the Drop Ship's symbol on the top left of the box.
• The set has the highest piece count.
• The H-Force Launcher and its spheres are the same launcher and spheres as a Midak Skyblaster and its spheres from Bionicle 2001-2010/Generation 1. The Hero's helmet is the same as Scodonius and Kirbraz's from a Bionicle 2009 set called Kaxium V3. The Hero's arm pieces are the same as the ones from the two Agori, Bionicle's 2008-2010 sets, and 7156 Corroder. The Hero's foot pieces are the same as the ones from Bionicle G1.
• The example of a Hero Pod shown in the set's box art and instruction manual is Dunkan Bulk's Hero Pod.
• It is impossible to fit a canister Hero figure onto the Drop Ship without certain modifications that function like the Drop Ship Hero figure.
• It is possible to apply the Drop Ship's grabbing function to Bionicle G1's Stars set canisters in 2010 and the Hero set canisters in 2011 (both early and late 2011 set canisters) due to their same shape.
