Where is this from, and what makes it a prototype? (these old eyes aren't what they used to be) -- Dorek Talk External Image 00:01, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

From what I can tell, the arm are switched, the connectors on the (claw?) are grey not black, and he has weird thing on his leg. Not sure if that makes it a prototype though. --"I wanted show that humans are not gods, nor are we monsters, i wanted people to think about what it means to be human" -Lex ~Prof. Srlojohn 12:49, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
As long as I'm right the only difference between this and the "released" one is the tape on the leg. The arms aren't switched, and the connectors on his fingers are in the right color. I could take an almost identical picture, only the background and the color of the tape would be different. — SurelNuva (Talk) 14:27, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
I was looking at the set page picture when comparing these two, now i'm looking at my Lewa instructions and I think your right except for the fingers, which look awfully grey to me, but that can be effected by lighting. --"I wanted show that humans are not gods, nor are we monsters, i wanted people to think about what it means to be human" -Lex ~Prof. Srlojohn 18:40, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
While it's not solid evidence, the dark green parts (except the Miru) seem to lack the glossyness of ABS, implying to me that they are prototype parts. However the model's design appears finnished to me as well. ~ Wolk (talk) 23:11, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Maybe it's a promo pic mock-up? But why wouldn't they just use the final set? It could be a preliminary final model. Like, before they set the molds, just take a look over to make sure that the model is how they want it. If that's true, then they would have used 3d printing to make the pieces and it would explain the lack of gloss, because of a potentially different plastic. --"I wanted show that humans are not gods, nor are we monsters, i wanted people to think about what it means to be human" -Lex ~Prof. Srlojohn 11:46, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
The axe and torso are different. Notice that the axe has no details on the blade, the gearbox is shaped differently, and there are two additional holes on the lower torso. (The Legend of Mata Nui torsos are designed the same as they were based on the prototypes. Another difference from the final product, not visible here, is that there is no axle hole on the back.) The picture comes from Alastair Swinnerton's Twitter, and you can read about where the prototype came from in this post here, which has another photo of it.The Shadow Imperator (talk) 02:17, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
