Rockworms are small Rahi that live in underground nests.
History
The rockworm species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[2]
Many rockworms found their way to the island of Mata Nui, where they took up residence in Le-Wahi and Po-Wahi. Once, Pohatu defended Po-Koro from rockworms, using boulders to fight from a distance, ricocheting them off of the cliff walls and defeating dozens of the Rahi at once.[3] Jaller and Takua once fell into a rockworm nest in Le-Wahi.[4]
After the release of the Bohrok swarms, the rockworms of Mata Nui returned to Metru Nui.[5]
After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving rockworms left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[1]
Mutated Rockworm
During the Toa Metru's fight with the physical form of Energized Protodermis, the substance mutated a rockworm into a massive creature. Whenua drove it off by blinding it with his Kanohi Ruru and forcing it underground.[6]
Abilities and Traits
Although small, rockworms are carnivorous, as well as poisonous.[7] How rockworms hunt is not known to Matoran.[citation needed]
