From BIONICLEsector01

Can I ask where this one's from? I don't recognize it. Tazakk (talk) 23:10, 17 April 2016 (CET)

I also like to know where it is from. Intelligence4 (talk) 18:49, 19 May 2016 (CET)
I would assume one of the promo CDs? There should be a "Source" section of the Need template for these kinds of things. -- Dorek Talk External Image 19:27, 19 May 2016 (CET)
you'd think it'd be in the metadata, but that only gives the resolution and upload date, now where it came from or the creation date. it kinda has that promo cd look though. isn't it technically plagiarism since we're posting all this info without sourcing any of it aside from the LMB-greg-stuff, or is the wiki affiliated with lego now somehow? Intelligence4 (talk) 21:07, 21 May 2016 (CET)

It comes from the BIONICLE Style Guide CD Torsti shared on BZPower (the first CD, it's the file CD CONTENT/GALLERY/2001/1030_006.PSD) --maxim21 10:23, 22 May 2016 (CET) the public

Thanks! how'd you find that out? and how can we add that source information to the file? I assume in the metadata...?
kinda different question, but the style guides were never released to the public were they? or were they for internal company use? Intelligence4 (talk) 20:19, 23 May 2016 (CET)
The metadata only has info available at the moment, so if somebody were to take an image directly from the CD but then tweak it around with photoshop or whatever, the metadata would only know that was saved in photoshop, for instance.
In terms of sourcing images, I tried introducing an image source template at one point but it never took off. I'll see if I have a version of it lying around, but it's an enormous task which is why people don't bother. I think technically we're covered under GNUFDL, anyway? Unless it's leaked material, LEGO's pretty cool about how people use the images they release (and sometimes go out of their way to release better ones!). -- Dorek Talk External Image 03:03, 24 May 2016 (CET)
