We Shall Never Forget

Annuit Coeptis. Novus Ordo Seclorum. E Plurbis Unum.
He has favored our undertakings. A New Order of the Ages. Out of Many, One.

___Eleven years ago, on September Eleventh in the Year of Our Lord Two-Thousand and One, a set of 19 men hijacked four planes from three different airports with the intention to cause death and terror on US soil.

The first plane left at 7:59 a.m.
The fourth and final plane crashed at 10:03 a.m.

___In the space of two hours and four minutes, a new day of infamy was branded into the mind of our country as tens of thousands watched the actions of 19 hijackers. In the space of two hours and four minutes, their attacks caused or set in motion the deaths of 2,510 civilians, 352 emergency workers, 60 policemen, and 55 military personnel. 2977 lives. It was in honor of those lives that this day, September Eleventh was declared Patriot Day
___I will ask you to pause for moment of reflection, in honor of all 2996 who lost their lives. Remember with Love each human being whose life was lost on that fateful day, for the loss of even one life is a tragedy that leaves a hole somewhere in the cloth of humanity. I ask you to never forget the sacrifice that was paid that day. I also ask you to never forget the heroism of our brother and sister Americans. I ask you to never forget that the people who attacked us are our fellows in humanity, and that they deserve our Love. If you remember them in Hate, you dishonor the memory of the victims and you mock the price that was paid to save what lives could be saved.
___Last year the theme of my speech was that "Never Forget doesn't mean Never Forgive." Here on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, I would like to ask you to consider the world beyond those attacks. In the last Eleven years, terrible things have happened, and terrible things will continue to happen. The Japanese Tsunami. Hurricane Katrina. The Syrian Civil War. The shooting at the premier of The Dark Knight Rises. War. Death. Poverty. Destruction. Desolation.
___Here on Patriot Day we honor our patriots, duh. Here on Patriot Day we remember a tragedy that lead us to war. Wars that have been catalysts for many things. We remember an event that has become a symbol. Let us not forget other tragedies that shall become symbols of change, symbols of reverence. Despair is not ours alone on this day.

Join me now, in silent respect for these Dead and Living of 9/11, for all of those who serve our country in the Armed Forces, and for people across the World who face trials everyday. Nameless, faceless, and our brothers in Humanity. Join me now, in silence. <be>
