Talk:Spinner

From BIONICLEsector01

Member of Jovan's Team

This quote was pointed out to me a while back, which says that Spinner was once a part of Jovan's team:

Given when the question was asked, I had assumed at the time that it was a hypothetical scenario for the Stasis Toa Contest, and they were just asking if that plot thread could be used in their story. However, the question never actually mentions the contest, and I recently noticed that the other question in that link is currently being cited as canon on the Olmak page.

So should it be added that Spinner was once a member of Jovan's team?

This was discussed through in the TGA discord server, and because the question actually says "1) Jovan," "1a) Dume," and Greg only gave a "Yes" it is ambiguous whether it was a yes to Jovan or Dume.--Surel (Talk) 18:44, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
I think Greg read it more as "Are either of these options acceptable in a fan-fic," given how the question is phrased. ~ Wolk (talk) 19:59, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

That's what I thought too, but then I saw that the second question in that link (which is phrased the same way) is currently being taken as canon on the BS01 page for the Kanohi Olmak. Additionally, other similarly phrased questions have also been taken as canon, such as Dezalk's appearance: https://greg.thegreatarchives.com/2003-2008/page283#post11281-line4,15
As for the "two questions but one yes", my understanding is that the initial question only asked about Jovan, and then Greg didn't answer the followup second part about Dume since it wasn't necessary (as he's done for many other questions).

At best, I think we can add a trivia that he may have been in either of the teams, but that it's ambigious as to which one Greg intended. ~ Wolk (talk) 19:36, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
I agree with Wolk - and at that point, it's hardly worthwhile to include. Zaria could have been a member of either team too, but there's no reason to put that on his page. --Angel Bob (talk) 16:12, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
If that's true, then we should also remove the statement on the Olmak page that claims Tridax hired Dark Hunters to get the Olmak, since it's equally hypothetical.

The big problem in my mind is not regarding it being hypothetical, but the ambiguity as to which two the teams. If the question had been phrased to ask for only one of them, it would be fine, however as phrased you cannot rule out that the intent could be it simply being a possibility for either. Thus the trivia would end up reading as, "Spinner may have been a member of either team," which becomes a hypothetical. ~ Wolk (talk) 13:16, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
