GSR and Prototype "Light"

You cannot possibly expect me, or anyone else, to believe such a ridiculous claim like "the giant robots had Light powers." In the source, Greg specifically states that they felt no need to insert elemental powers into the robots. Just because someone has a laser gun doesn't mean it's Elemental Light, especially outside the robot's nanotech. It should not be listed under Elemental Light.
I have noted, however, that the section does say "or its sub-powers." While it could be argued that this allows for non-Elemental Light to be included, it also means the list is incomplete: the Inika (or at least some of them) wielded laser weapons.
So which is correct: the GSR and its prototype should be removed, or all weapons/beings who wielded even the smallest of Light's abilities be added? —Keplers (talk) 19:50, 12 August 2014 (CEST)

The protocol by which we are currently operating seems to involve including non-elemental wielders; look no further than Psionics for many examples. This only makes sense. If we were to only include elemental wielders, Psionics' list of Users would lose twenty-odd entries, and would, ultimately, be entirely redundant with its Species Wielders list.

As for the Inika, however, no, they should not be listed here, for they did not have an inherent power over lasers; that was the doing of their weapons. As the Lightning page demonstrates, we list weapons with non-elemental powers under the Triva section. Perhaps we ought to have a Weapons subsection for this purpose, but for the time being, that is how it is done. --Angel Bob (talk) 21:37, 12 August 2014 (CEST)

Light Drain

Theoretically, could the mental barrier preventing a shadow leech victim from recovering their light be broken by a Toa of Psionics? Also, this page says that soundwaves of the appropriate wavelength and duration could shatter the barrier, implying to me that it doesn't have to be a Klakk's scream. Would that mean that a Toa of Sonics, if they knew the right frequency, could shatter that barrier? --ZeroPath (talk)

I think a Toa of Sonics was confirmed to be able to do it at some point. Sort of begs the question, is this barrier physiological or psychological? -- Dorek Talk External Image 22:10, 9 January 2016 (CET)

Invisibility?

I know this is the wrong place to be asking this, but does anyone know if a Toa of Light could achieve invisibility? I'd think it would be pretty simple; the user would simply bend light around themselves, stopping light from touching them. I'd think that if Av-Matoran can change their own color without even thinking about it, being invisible wouldn't be very hard for a Toa of Light. Did Greg ever mention or confirm this? -- External Image Speak to Me 11:43, 18 January 2016 (CET)

I don't know if Invisibility was ever overtly confirmed. I don't see why not (and could easily be one of those "enhanced powers" Takanuva was experimenting with), but it might still be beyond them. The disguising ability sound more like what the Mahiki can do than what the Huna can do, you know? -- Dorek Talk External Image 15:31, 18 January 2016 (CET)
This is probably about to get very irrelevant, but kindly bear with me. *takes deep breath*
From a real-life scientific standpoint, I feel this power would be very different from standard illusions. While the Mahiki affects the mind (confirmed to have Psionics-based powers), Av-Matoran and Takanuva bend any light that touches them, altering the wavelengths as it bounces off their armor. In real life (and in BIONICLE, by the sound of it), living things can only see because light bounces off of objects and into the eye. This accounts for machines, too, because cameras work the same way as our eyes. By altering the wavelength, one changes the color, and therefore the image.
Scientists in our world are working on ways to bend light around an object and have had some success. If this is done correctly, light does not touch the object at all, and thus does not bounce off, and thus does not create an image. The observer looks at the object in question and simply sees the images behind it, as if the object were not there.
Anyway, back to BIONICLE. For a Toa of Light, I'd think invisibility in this manner would be a relatively simple feat. I was curious as to whether or not this ever came up on BZPower. I found a brief discussion here [1], but it's pretty much the same as what we're saying here LOL.
