Set 8734 Brutaka is a large boxed set released in 2006 portraying the Order of Mata Nui member, Brutaka.

Set Information

The Brutaka set contains 193 pieces, and was first released in summer 2006. Parts from Brutaka can be combined with 8733 Axonn to create Botar. The two sets can also be combined with 8764 Vezon & Fenrakk to create Vezon & Kardas.

Features

Brutaka, along with the other large sets released in 2006, introduced a novel axle-and-cylinder assembly used to add additional support in the set's legs. The friction between axle and cylider allowed Brutaka's legs to hold more weight before the set's knees would buckle.

In addition to the standard range of articulation, Brutaka features a pair of posable blades that can be hidden in the set's back armor. However, Brutaka has no other notable action features.

Collectibles

The set contains a gold Great Kanohi Olmak. Notably, the shade of gold featured in Brutaka, introduced in 2006, is a warmer shade than used previously. The gold used in earlier sets, such as 8596 Takanuva and 8762 Toa Iruini, is darker in color.
