"Legends foretell the coming of a seventh Toa who would bring light to the shadows and awaken Mata Nui."
"What are we waiting for? We should prepare for this Toa's arrival. When will it be, and where?"
"Ah, this Toa will not simply appear, as you and the others did. The seventh Toa must be found.

Significance Major

The Search for the Seventh Toa was an event that occurred in response to the rediscovery of the Kanohi Avohkii.

History

Appointment of the Herald

Following the Kolhii Tournament and the discovery of the Mask of Light, the Turaga met in conference at the Ta-Suva and shared with the gathered Matoran the prophecy of the seventh Toa of Light and the role he would play in the re-awakening of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. Believing the light from the mask Takua had purposefully shone on Jaller to be a sign from the mask, the Turaga named Jaller the Herald of the seventh Toa. The Captain of the Guard was tasked with searching for this Toa, accompanied by Takua recording the search as per his duty as Chronicler.

In reaction to this discovery, Makuta Teridax, having regained his full strength, created three Kraata and used them to power three Rahkshi suits of armor being stored in Mangaia. He dispatched them with the mission of recovering the Kanohi Avohkii, to prevent the creation of the Toa of Light.

Attack on Ta-Koro

As Takua, Jaller and Pewku traversed Mata Nui in search of the Toa, the Rahkshi Lerahk, Guurahk and Panrahk arrived in Ta-Koro, where the most recent sighting of the Mask of Light had been reported. During their search for the Mask, Tahu's Hau Nuva was poisoned and the village evacuated just in time, before the Rahkshi destroyed Ta-Koro.

Battle in Ko-Wahi

Continuing their journey, the two Matoran were confronted by these same Rahkshi, who had tracked them to Ko-Wahi and destroyed Ko-Koro.[1] Only the timely arrival of Toa Nuva Kopaka spared the two Matoran from being killed and the mask being confiscated.

Attack on Onu-Koro

While the Matoran traveled through the Onu-Koro Highway, the two became separated and Teridax in disembodied shadow form appeared before Takua. The Makuta warned that if the search was not abandoned, Jaller would die and others would suffer. Intimidated by the threat and fearing for his friend's life, Takua abandoned the search and made his way to Onu-Koro riding Pewku.

As Toa Nuva Pohatu traveled to Onu-Koro to spread word of the search for the seventh Toa, the Rahkshi Turahk, Kurahk and Vorahk assaulted Onu-Koro while searching for the Mask of Light. In the fray of battle, much of the village was destroyed and Tahu became completely corrupted by the poisoning of his Kanohi Nuva.

Having rejoined Jaller to complete the search, Takua and the Herald arrived at the Kini-Nui, where the Mask shot a beam of light at the Great Spirit[2] sculpture and the six Rahkshi cornered the Matoran on the Amaja-Nui. The united Toa Nuva arrived and held back the Rahkshi's attacks, but Turahk managed to kill Jaller through the use of its Staff of Fear. Realizing that he was meant to put on the Avohkii, Takua donned the Kanohi and became Takanuva, the Toa of Light.

Aftermath

Takanuva used his newly-activated elemental Light powers to defeat the remaining Rahkshi, ending their threat and using the pieces of theirs to construct the Ussanui for a confrontation with Teridax.
