Proto Drakes are graceful and amphibious Rahi.

History

The Proto Drake species was created by Makuta Kojol using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.

Many Proto Drakes made their home in the Silver Sea that surrounded Metru Nui. Here, they were regarded with great respect by the Ga-Matoran and were a welcomed presence in Ga-Metru as they primarily fed on sharks.

Proto Drakes were later sighted off the coast of the island of Mata Nui, having migrated there following the Great Cataclysm. This population of the Rahi returned to the Matoran Universe after the Bohrok swarms cleansed the island.

Several Proto Drakes also migrated into the waters surrounding The Pit, and adapted to the waters there. They resided primarily around the Razor Whale's Teeth, feeding on the Takea that came too close.

Abilities and Traits

Proto Drakes actually got their name for their habit in bathing in Ta-Metru vats; Onu-Matoran have theorized that these Rahi do this to remove parasites that attach themselves to the Drakes' bodies.

The fins of these Rahi allow them to move in water and give them the ability to fly. Proto Drakes capture prey by using the claws on their fins and tail.

• The Proto Drake was sent as an entry in to LEGO as part of the LEGO Magazine Rahi-building Contest. It was created by Gar and Keane Secrist and given a name and story role by Greg Farshtey in the book BIONICLE: Rahi Beasts.
