"Axonn saw the gate advancing rapidly, threatening to envelop him. He couldn't see anything inside it, only deep darkness. He knew Brutaka's power — the gate might lead to someplace else on Voya Nui or any other island, or even to a different dimension entirely."

The Kanohi Olmak was the Mask of Dimensional Gates.

History

Only two Kanohi Olmak are known to have existed in the Matoran Universe, both of which were created by Artakha. One belonged to Order of Mata Nui member Brutaka and was damaged by the Pit Mutagen, rendering its use to be rather risky. The mask was later destroyed by Makuta Teridax in the body of Mata Nui.

The second Kanohi Olmak had a variety of owners: its first user was a member of Jovan's Toa Team to reach the Kanohi Ignika; at some point it was taken by the Order and used twice by Botar to imprison Toa Mangai Tuyet in an alternate timeline. Afterwards, it was stolen by the Brotherhood of Makuta and used by Makuta Tridax to recruit an army of alternate Takanuva. It was later looted from the sub-basement of the Destral Fortress by Vezon, whose body absorbed the mask and its power when a portal landed him in the way of a wave of Energized Protodermis, destroying the Olmak.

Currently, no Kanohi Olmak exist in the main dimension.

Toa Empire Alternate Universe

In this alternate universe, Brutaka's Kanohi Olmak was held in the Coliseum's Hall of Masks after he was killed. The Tuyet of that timeline used the mask in an attempt to travel to another timeline, but was stopped by Takanuva before she could do so. The Olmak is now lost in interdimensional space.

Powers

The Kanohi Olmak allowed its user to transport themselves and/or other targets to different dimensions or another location within their own via dimensional portals. A Kanohi Olmak user could also form gateways that stayed open without their concentration, if they so wished. While achieving time travel with an Olmak was impossible, one could use it to travel to dimensions where time flowed faster or slower than in the original dimension. One could also have used a Kanohi Olmak to travel beyond the Matoran Universe.

Example Usage

Takanuva emerging from a portal created by a Kanohi Olmak

Brutaka used his Kanohi Olmak to transport a Doom Viper into a pool of lava in Power Play.
