The Nui Caves are a network of caves below the Voya Nui region of the Southern Continent.

History

The Nui Caves in Matoran Escape

The Caves were the upper part of the larger group of caves in the Southern Continent that the Av-Matoran used to inhabit.

When the Great Cataclysm caused Voya Nui to rocket upwards to the surface of Aqua Magna, the caves were transported with the landmass. Later, when the Piraka arrived on the island of Voya Nui, they stationed Nektann guards in the caves to monitor the comings and goings of the Antidermis-enslaved Matoran population.

Axonn led the Matoran of Voya Nui and Mahri Nui into these caves to keep them safe from harm when the Toa Mahri destroyed the Cord and Voya Nui returned to the Southern Continent.

When Teridax was killed in the Battle of Bara Magna, the Nui Caves were severely damaged, and the Matoran evacuated to Spherus Magna. Later, the Nui Caves, along with all other locations in the Matoran Universe, were dismantled.
