"Who can walk silent in the Wood? Taku-cry and Fikou-chirp, windhorn and trunkdrum, all around is the ceaseless junglesong, dawn, highsun, and night! To unite their voice with this music is the duty of all Le-Matoran."

Makani is a Le-Matoran native to Metru Nui.

Biography

Metru Nui

Before the Great Cataclysm, Makani lived and worked in Le-Metru. Upon the orders of Makuta Teridax who was disguised as Turaga Dume, he was put into a Matoran Sphere by the Vahki, later rescued with the other Matoran by the Toa Metru and brought to Mata Nui.[2][3]

Mata Nui

As a result of being confined in a Matoran Sphere, Makani was shrunk physically. Under Turaga Matau, he helped in the construction of Le-Koro, with melted pieces of Airships which had been used in the Matoran's transportation to Mata Nui.[4] Makani was a Musician of Le-Koro, his job being to welcome the visitors when they came in through the gates.[5]

Makani evaded capture during an initial attack by the Nui-Rama on the village. When the Nui-Rama returned, he mounted a Kewa and accompanied Kongu into battle against them. Eventually, Toa Mata Onua arrived and helped free the captured Le-Matoran. They then returned to Le-Koro.[6]

Once during the Bohrok attacks, he had his mask replaced by a krana for a short period,[7] before Tamaru, Kongu, Takua and several Boxors ambushed them, removing the krana.[8]

After the Bohrok-Kal were defeated, he and the other Matoran were rebuilt to better resemble their Metru Nui forms.[9]

Return to Metru Nui

After about 1,000 years on Mata Nui, Makani returned to Metru Nui with the other Matoran and the Turaga, participating in the building of boats for the journey.[10] He then helped to rebuild it. He temporarily stopped his work of reconstruction on order of Jaller, to force the Turaga to reveal where the Toa Nuva had gone, but he eventually got back to work.[11] He finally stopped his work of rebuilding when the Staff of Artakha was used to repair the rest of the city.[12] He attended the ceremony at the Coliseum celebrating the awakening of Mata Nui.[13]

A few months subsequent to the awakening of Mata Nui, Makani left the Matoran Universe to live on Spherus Magna, immediately after the Great Spirit Robot had been crippled.[14][15]
