The Lord of Skull Spiders was the leader of the Skull Spiders and the guardian of the City of the Mask Makers.[2]
Biography
Thousands of years after Makuta's Betrayal, the Lord of Skull Spiders was sent by the evil influence of Makuta to retrieve the Golden Masks of Power. Using the Golden Mask of the Skull Spiders, it commanded the Skull Spiders to attack the villages of Okoto and find the Masks of Power.
The Lord of Skull Spiders worked in connection with the Skull Army led by Kulta, defending the City of the Mask Makers on behalf of its allies and master.[3]
After the Toa obtained the Golden Masks of Power and gathered at the bridge to the city, the Lord of Skull Spiders approached them.[4] Several of the Toa attacked on their own, and the Lord of Skull Spiders dispatched them with webs. After the Toa regrouped, the Lord of Skull Spiders was overwhelmed by their combined might, and was thrown from the bridge when Onua destroyed the pillar on which it was standing.[5][6]
The Lord of Skull Spiders survived the fall, and was taken back to its lair to recover by the Skull Spiders. The Protectors and Harvali entered the lair, and the Lord of Skull Spiders awoke and attacked them. However, the Protectors managed to bring the cavern ceiling down, crushing the Lord of Skull Spiders and many Skull Spiders.[7]
Abilities and Traits
The Lord of Skull Spiders had excellent night vision and sharp, venomous fangs. It could use its great strength to squeeze the breath from opponents.[1] It was also able to spit webs to entangle its enemies.
The Lord of Skull Spiders had established a telepathic link to the Skull Spiders, through which it controlled their actions.[1]
It preferred to hunt at night.[1]

70790 Lord of Skull Spiders was released as one of the sets in the winter 2015 product wave. The set contains 145 pieces, including the Golden Mask of the Skull Spiders. It also includes a function that allows it to grip and crush other figures.
