Lightning Bugs are small insect Rahi with limited control over Lightning.

History

The Lightning Bug species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.

Many Lightning Bugs came to inhabit the island of Mata Nui. Many were placed under the influence of Teridax, and lived in the Nui-Rama Hive. When the captive Matoran of Le-Koro were working in the hive, each was monitored by a Lightning Bug. On the occasion that one would falter, they would be shocked until they resumed their mining. When Onua arrived to remove Lewa's Infected Kanohi, a Lightning Bug crawled onto Onua's shoulder, which he lifted using his Kanohi Matatu and sent flying towards Lewa, knocking off his Infected Kanohi.

These Lightning Bugs later returned to Metru Nui with the Matoran. After the destruction of the Matoran Universe, they immigrated to Spherus Magna.

Abilities and Traits

Lightning Bugs can generate a mild electrical shock, enough to cause significant pain. They come in shades of blue, yellow, or purple.
