Kraawa are large, herbivorous Rahi that have the ability to grow using kinetic energy.

History

The Kraawa species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.

Only one Kraawa was ever sighted on Metru Nui. It was successfully captured and placed in the Archives, but not before it had used its powers to grow to half the size of a Ko-Metru Knowledge Tower. Because it was too large for a Stasis Tube, the Kraawa was locked up in a secure section of the Archives.

When a Rahi tried to escape from the Underwater Rahi Study, the Kraawa got loose as well. Before it was recaptured, the Kraawa reduced three levels of the Archives to critical condition, forced four more to be evacuated, turned more than a dozen Vahki to scrap, and unleashed hundreds of dangerous Rahi. During this or another escape attempt, the Kraawa's actions allowed a sample of Protodites to escape their container and spread throughout the Archives.[2]

After the Great Cataclysm, the Kraawa was set loose again. The Rahaga, particularly Pouks, often expressed concern about finding and capturing it, for it proved very evasive. However, it was recaptured at some point before Mata Nui's Reawakening and was returned to the Archives.

When the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the Kraawa left the Matoran Universe and immigrated onto Spherus Magna.[3][3]

Abilities and Traits

The Kraawa is a gentle creature; it is herbivorous and more likely to run away than to fight. However, it could nonetheless be quite destructive as shown by its romps through the Archives. When the Kraawa becomes agitated, its eyes turn from blue to red. This Rahi is skilled at hiding and is extremely difficult to capture.

The creature has the ability to absorb any kinetic energy used against it and use that energy to grow; how much larger depends on the strength of the hit. There is no known limit to how large the Kraawa can become.[4]

Set Information

The Kraawa in set form

The Kraawa can be built out of Toa Metru canister sets 8602 Toa Nokama, 8603 Toa Whenua, and 8606 Toa Nuju using instructions split between the three sets' instruction manuals. Its neck moves up or down when a part on its back is rotated. Its belly features a purely structural use of the great Kanohi Matatu.
