A Firestaff is a tool that was used by mask and tool makers from Ta-Metru. The heads of the staffs could reach extremely high temperatures, allowing Ta-Matoran to soften, weld, and shape protodermis into masks and other items. In addition to creating intense heat, Firestaffs can also give off intense bursts of light that can temporarily stun certain Rahi.
Vakama's Firestaff
Turaga Vakama, when he was a Matoran, used a Firestaff to make masks. Vakama kept it after he became a Toa, and later used it to create the Kanohi Vahi during his adventures as a Toa Metru. After becoming a Turaga, Vakama continued to use his Firestaff, which had extended to around walking stick length, as his Badge of Office. It was lost when fighting Rahi during the Dark Time, but was recovered by Takua in Onu-Koro.
Lhikan's Firestaff
After Lhikan became a Turaga, he used a Firestaff as his Badge of Office. However, this Firestaff was lost upon his death.
Example Usage
Vakama used his Firestaff to create the Kanohi Vahi in Legends of Metru Nui.

Turaga Vakama's Firestaff was included in the 2001 Turaga Vakama set.
