The Dark Hunter-Brotherhood of Makuta War[1] was a conflict that began with the Battle for the Kanohi Vahi.

History

Teridax, leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta, ordered the services of three Dark Hunters to further the completion of his plan. At the end of the takeover of Metru Nui, Teridax absorbed two of the Hunters, Nidhiki and Krekka, in order to replenish his powers. Metru Nui was destroyed in the ensuing chaos created by the Makuta. The Shadowed One, leader of the Dark Hunters, traveled to Metru Nui with his bodyguard, Sentrakh, to investigate the disappearance of his Hunters. Teridax's treachery was eventually discovered, and the Shadowed One declared war on the Brotherhood.

Warfare

After the Shadowed One was defeated by Teridax in combat, he began to send Dark Hunters to battle the Brotherhood of Makuta and its minions. The war was expected to be one sided because of the power of the Brotherhood, but they were busy dealing with the aftereffects of the Great Cataclysm and were not giving the war full attention. The Dark Hunters used hit-and-run tactics, and were successful in annoying the Brotherhood.

A successful Brotherhood of Makuta raid was conducted during the war. The raid resulted in the acquisition of the Destral Cycle, a vehicle Makuta Antroz took to using.

Following Roodaka's supposed death in Metru Nui, she was apprehended by a group of Dark Hunters led by Tracker who himself wanted her dead. The agents bullied her into meeting the Shadowed One for a talk about her allegiance and future.[2] For some time following, she served as a double agent to both the Brotherhood and the Dark Hunters, sneaking information to both about the other.[3][4] The Shadowed One discovered her double-dealing, and sent a team of Hunters to kill her.

To further Teridax's plan, several of the strongest Makuta were sent to Karda Nui. Despite the reduction in numbers, the Brotherhood began paying even less attention to the war.

Siege of the Makuta Fortress

While manning a fortress that was previously owned by the Makuta, a contingent of Dark Hunters was assaulted by a powerful Brotherhood force, including Visorak and infected Rahi. Zaktan, who had previously been given a tablet by Roodaka detailing the history of the fortress, discovered a secret room detailing Teridax's plan while the others were fighting. He and his fellow Skakdi Dark Hunters, Thok and Reidak, escaped the onslaught, and were the only survivors of the battle.

Aftermath

The Order of Mata Nui approached the Dark Hunters, who willingly lent their forces to assist the Order in the Destiny War, effectively ending the Dark Hunter-Brotherhood of Makuta war.
