Burnak are tiger-like Rahi.
History
The Burnak species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.
Many Burnak made their homes in the Voya Nui region of the Southern Continent. During the Great Cataclysm, this region was torn from the continent and rocketed to the surface of Aqua Magna, where the surviving Burnak lived for 1,000 years.
When the Toa Mahri destroyed the Cord and sent Voya Nui back to its place on the Southern Continent, its Burnak population may have not survived the descent.
After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, many Burnak emigrated from the Matoran Universe to Spherus Magna.[1]
Piruk's Burnak
During the 1,000 years after the Great Cataclysm, the Le-Matoran Piruk tamed a Desert Burnak, which became his pet. When Axonn shepherded Voya Nui's Matoran into the Nui Caves to weather the island's descent, Piruk brought the Burnak with him, and it survived the destruction of the Cord.

Burnak are very agile and aggressive, but can be tamed.
There are several different varieties of Burnak, including Ice, Fire, Air, Earth, Stone, Water, Desert, and Protodermis, so named for their favored habitats.
