The Voya Nui Bay is a bay with strong currents. The only way to get through safely was by the Lagoon Entrance. When Voya Nui shot out of the Southern Continent's dome and into the Endless Ocean, Mahri Nui formed, causing the bay to disappear. It was after Mahri Nui snapped off, and fell into the sea that this bay was formed again.
Since Voya Nui's descent back to the Southern Continent, Voya Nui Bay has simply become a part of the surrounding sea.
