Maintenance Miscellaneous Tasks / Handyman Achieve Thing Request
I had some time, so I removed all "fortunately"s and "unfortunately"s from pages, excluding Quotes, Official Text, and Protected pages. I hope you like it, Mr. Man of Chair. Deebee\Talk
- So, uh, how many of these do you suppose there were? :P `Kraahlix
I count 23 edits I made. Deebee\Talk 04:58, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- I spot-checked you, good job. `Kraahlix
I had more time, so killed the 8 "notably" pages. Two of them this morning, the rest right now. Also, when you say, "remove all numerals", do you mean all, even the big ones such as "100,000 years ago..."? Deebee\Talk 23:06, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Also just removed the last "fortunately" I could, from Nuurakh. If you can just fix up the protected "fortunately"s (Tahu, Lewa, Takanuva) we should be good for that. Deebee\Talk 23:08, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Awarded and completed. You mean that the task ca nbe taken off of Maintenance? `Kraahlix
Maintenance
I found two uses of 'luckily' on the Takua/Takanuva page. Here are the quotes:
"Luckily, he found that the Chisel Turaga Onewa had given him generated an energy bubble that brought him back to the Ta-Wahi beach"
"Luckily, Bitil was struck by Kopaka piloting the Jetrax T6, causing the Makuta's concentration to shatter and thus stopping his mask from working."
Aside from those two, I took 'luckliy' off of 20 pages (my last 19 mainspace edits, as well as the Flag page). TN05
- I had to deduct three (reverts, etc.) but 18 is till good. =) Congrats. `Kraahlix
Glory
Already it has become all about personal glory...
Why can't the awards/achievements/whatever for Maintenance just be axed? It's the only reason anybody's bothering with it... --~|RC|~ (Talk/Contribs) 23:10, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah. I was thinking that too. The only way to get them is to basically take all the glory.--`Vartemp (Talk | Contribs)
- I don't do it for the glory. Dudes, you gotta stop making geralizations. Just because I get the award doesn't mean that's the reason I did it. If I can do little things to help the wiki, such as removing "notably" and "fortunately", I will do it. Not for the little template, but for the wiki. Jeez, from what you say it sounds like some of our greatest editors are glory-hunters because they have O:RAC awards on their page. Deebee\Talk 23:36, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
ET, you seem to have MANY problems with the new page. Why didn't you just come talk to me about them? Why didn't you say anything while we were in the planning period?
Anyway. About the "glory." I have no problem rewarding members for helping the Wiki. Maintenance lists everything that needs to be done, pretty much. They're the most worthwhile awards that can go on a page.
People will always look for awards. If you have a problem with that, we shouldn't allow custom ones, member distribution, etc.
And recognition certainly is not why I care about maintenance. I'm OCD around here. `Kraahlix
Because I frankly didn't care for it as it was being planned; I looked at it... never. But now that it's up and runningand I have to deal with the relevant edits to mainspace articles (which is practically all I pay attention to), I took note of it.
And while rewarding members isn't a bad thing, sure, my problem is that all some people do it for will be the recognition of it, not simply to make the site better. But who am I kidding? That's far too selfless to ever work in the real world. --~|RC|~ (Talk/Contribs) 02:15, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- I guess what you say most likely applies to many members, maybe even most members. Still, generalizations are something to be avoided. How 'bout we just agree that while some members do it for the award, some don't. Deebee\Talk 03:15, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I actually have something to say to that. I thought that I probably wouldn't even get one because all I did was go around removing a few words here and there on less than 25 pages. I had no idea each edit counted for an award. You probably noticed, but I only counted up my edits after Kraah asked for them, and my notice was more to request the changing of the three protected pages then it was to get any form of award. Sorry I startled you, just trying to get a running start on the whole maintenance thing. Deebee\Talk 03:28, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Edit Warring
Isn't there a place off-site you could talk about this kind of stuff? Normally I hate when staff discussions are held behind members' backs, but this staff-versus-staff edit warring is becoming ridiculous and embarrassing. (And I know this is the perfect setup for an edit reversion and revision purge, but someone has to say this before this fiasco gets any bigger).
Seriously, this has started to seem like your actions and Bioran's against one another are just showing-of-power, hoping to intimidate one another into agreeing. And that's not how progress is made. Have a peaceable discussion, or if necessary find some off-site way to argue, but try to set a good example for the Wiki's non-staff editors. Your member-versus-member conflict is exactly the kind of thing that started the problems you were discussing (and no, I won't place any blame in either stage of the conflicts).--
|Talk|Contributions 00:40, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- You really have no idea what's going on. We do talk off-site, but Bioran isn't keeping to his agreements. I'd appreciate you not assuming the worst without knowing the reason behind my actions. `Kraahlix
'Luckily'
I managed to clear 'luckily' from all non-protected mainspace pages, but I need you to remove this use from Lewa (it is in the Voya Nui section):
'Luckily, Balta, who had just learned the truth from Axonn, told the others that they were real Toa.'
I made 9 total edits, but I got 10 uses off of the mainspace. Hope that helps. :) TN05
- Do you use ctrl+F when removing these? `Kraahlix
Numerals
I removed many numerals from online game pages. Do I get a handyman achievement for this?--`Vartemp (Talk | Contribs)
- No, you get a punch to the face. How many do I owe you? `Kraahlix
Quiero ayudar (I wanna help)
Please master... Teach me the ways of the Jeditor? SoulStealer
- The Jeditorr, huh? =P What is it you would like to know? `Kraahlix
- I wish to help somewhere as well....please? Criebes & Tomana V File
@ Vartemp: Us? What's that supposed to mean? And why are you so high and mighty all of a sudden? Last time I checked, and forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you've done much for bs01 either, so don't act like you have. SoulStealer
- I'm pretty sure when Vartemp said: "Us" he meant anyone in general. And last I've seen, Vartemp has done a good job around here on BS01 for his first few months and was just trying to help you out. ;) -Grant-Sud-(Mail/Contributions) 20:11, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I poorly word my comments sometimes.--`Vartemp Talk / Contribs
Well Shadow, where do you want me to start? `Kraahlix
@Kraa, because I look around and his recent replies have gone un-challenged and he finished off with a rebuttal to ET asking for proof he had no right to jump in and that ET did. I peek around and I don't see him having been banned, I don't see him having been talked to more and last I checked he didn't have a chat thing. Criebes & Tomana V File
- It does look that way, but I've been discussing with my boss about him even today, so hang in there. `Kraahlix
- @Kraah: I'd really just like to start out with something small, like a little project I just took up. It's the kind of thing you or ET or some other more experienced editor could do in like five seconds, but I wanted to give it a shot. I'm removing all the dupe links on Vakama, but I put an In Use template on the page, and ET recently asked me what my editing intentions were, so I was just wondering in all my n00bishness if, because I can only get on the computer for little bits at a time, if that would be an acceptable reason to use the template. But all in all, I'd want to start with stuff like that.
- @Tommy Anna: Who? --SoulStealer
As has been said many, many, many times, you are free to use the In Use template without permission from staff. KANOHIJOURNAL (Bioran ยท Talk)
I recommend using Ctrl+F when removing dupe links, you can easily find what is dupe and what is not. `Kraahlix
I KILLED ALL THE VAKAMA DUPE LINKS!!! I would like to thank the academy, namely Kraahlix and ET. @ Kraah: Thanks for teaching me the ctrl. find trick and @ ET: Thanks for teaching me the dupe-link rules and no thanks for NOT TELLING ME WHAT RC STANDS FOR!!! Anything else you'd like to know? `Kraahlix
If I wanted to clear out the maintenance categories, what kinds of places would I look for things like new images, etc? Shadonix, ever the wannabe ( Talk | N00btionary | Awards )
Need Image is the hard one :-/ Mainly we need stuff ripped form games. `Kraahlix
- What about things like quotes, links, appearances, and how would I go about rewriting a page? Shadonix, ever the wannabe ( Talk | N00btionary | Awards )
Battle of Bara Magna
Do I get the O:RAC or Maintenance (Whatever it is) points for the page. Lord Nektann
For this? No, you wouldn't. `Kraahlix
No, look at the second revision. Lord Nektann
Have you decided yet Kraa? Lord Nektann

- Sorry it has to be main space. `Kraahlix
Yeah ... Yeah I got one too. Here. Manga :/ Also I did the Bara Magna Timeline. :) -Grant-Sud-(Mail/Contributions) 03:15, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Rack yourself up yo. What about the BMT? Was it on Maintenance? `Kraahlix
- Yep. Vartemp had placed it up though. -Grant-Sud-(Mail/Contributions) 14:50, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. `Kraahlix
- Thanks. By the way the Battle of Bara Magna mentioned above had a Maintenance Stub Template that was put up by Trig and then taken down by ET after LN edited it. It's legit. :) -Grant-Sud-(Mail/Contributions) 18:17, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. `Kraahlix
- Yep. Vartemp had placed it up though. -Grant-Sud-(Mail/Contributions) 14:50, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Re:Looky what I found :D
Nice sir. :P I had no idea KH had so many different meanings when I used it for my username. :P
And it's fine about the Event Log sir, you must be very busy. And I cannot blame you sir, when I have just got out of a hiatus myself. :) KH (Talk | Contributions (If any)) 12:30, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Question
Hey Kraahman, I have a question I've been meaning to ask you: Does your name have any relation to the Kraahkan (Kraahlix, Kraahkan), or is it just a coincidence? :D Obitor 05:34, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Nah, man. Then Matoran of Shadow would be Kraah-Matoran. And everybody knows that Kraah-Matoran are Matoran of podcasts, silly! :D----
- Teehee. But no, it's a coincidence. I may have been subconsciously influenced by BIONICLE when making the name, though. `Kraahlix
