I don't know what that was about, but I am allowed to. Says so on the Awards/Achievements Policy page, the Grammar Hammer section. It says "Talk pages are also counted", implying I can, in fact, edit other member's comments. Also, I never stated 'This bugs me so much I'm going to correct it', I just corrected it. Right, because you're not the person who's having your simple spelling mistakes paraded around constantly. To my friend and I (ha, I can do it too), it is. As simple as something like this may be, to compound it as has been done here (that is, the frequency of "grammer hammers" seen in edit comments and the joy people attain from it) actually hurts those little, tiny things I like to call... I've been saying that since it's inception, and it's why I don't give the achievement.
