Umbra is a mysterious and unique being who guards the Kanohi Ignika.

Biography
Umbra was created by the Great Beings 100,000 years ago, for the sole purpose of guarding the Kanohi Ignika. After being created, he was immedately placed outside the Chamber of Life to protect it. He was given the name "Umbra" to confuse enemies, for "Umbra" means "the darkest part of a shadow."
Although not a member, Umbra was a servant of the Hand of Artakha. When it disbanded and Helryx formed the Order of Mata Nui, Umbra was designated as a servant of the organization. He was viewed as such because he does the same work the Order wants done.
79,100 years ago, a team of Toa, led by a Toa of Magnetism, arrived in Umbra's chamber to claim the Mask of Life. They fought and defeated him, gaining entry to the Chamber of Life. The team, minus one of their number, soon returned to the chamber to replace the mask, allowing Umbra to continue his duty.
Recently, the Toa Inika had to get past Umbra in order to get to the Chamber of Life. They were fighting vicious Protodax when he scared the beasts off, wanting the honor of destroying the Toa for himself. Umbra first used his incredible speed to disarm the heroes. Matoro then used his Elemental Power to make Umbra slip and crash. He then attacked as a laser-like beam of light, but Matoro responded with more ice, causing the walls of the cave to become reflective; like a mirror. Nuparu then lured Umbra into hitting the walls, causing him to reflect off of them wildly until he was knocked out.
Umbra is currently waiting for the Ignika's return on the Southern Continent, so he can continue his life-long destiny.
Abilities and Traits
Umbra is very cold, in some ways. He is completely dedicated to his job. Even if he knows those who come his way are heroes, it does not matter to him; they have to prove it by defeating him. He will pull out all the stops to beat his opponents, because that is his duty to the mask.
Although Umbra's Light powers don't have as wide a range as Takanuva's, he can do some things Takanuva can't, such as turning himself into a beam of light. While Umbra is in his laser form, he is considered an Elemental Being of Light. Umbra is the only known being who has no Shadow. Thus, if his Light were drained, he would perish.
Tools
Umbra carries a Laser Lance, a staff that can fire lasers, as well as launch a Rhotuka that creates solid light projections. He also has wheels on his feet that let him travel at close to the speed of light. These wheels also allow him to travel on walls and ceilings.
Set Information
Umbra was released in Wal*Mart shopping centers in the United States as a promotional item, but was available in other stores elsewhere. The set included a Laser Axe and Energized Ice Sword (set wise) as components of Umbra's Laser Lance, which also featured a Rhotuka Launcher. Umbra's Rhotuka was dark green blended with silver, a color combination previously available only in the Rhotuka collectible pack. The set also featured the same LED-containing orange eye piece as the Piraka. Along with this, the set's feet had wheels as part of their design.
