• The six canisters arrive at Mata Nui's beach, and the Toa Mata emerge:
  • Tahu
  • Gali
  • Onua
  • Kopaka
  • Pohatu
  • Lewa
• Each Toa meets their Turaga, and learn that they must each collect six Kanohi masks.
• The Turaga are Vakama, Nokama, Onewa, Matau, Whenua, and Nuju.
• The Toa learn that Teridax is the evil who has infected all Rahi on the island Mata Nui.
• The Turaga tell the Toa that Teridax was a spirit and Mata Nui's evil "brother".
• The six Toa win a battle against many Rahi, and forces of nature which Teridax unleashes against them.
• The Toa each collect all six masks.
• Toa collect all six Makoki Stones, which will be used to unlock the way to the Mangaia.
• The Toa receive their Golden Kanohi at Kini-Nui, and the path to Teridax's lair, the Mangaia, is revealed.
• Just before this, the Chronicler's Company arrived to defend Kini-Nui.
• Gali creates a mind link with Takua.
• The company tries to fend off the Rahi, but they are soon outnumbered.
• Just when it seems that all hope is lost, the Ta-Matoran Guard, Gukko Force and other defending groups arrived, successfully defeating the Rahi.
• Meanwhile, the Toa encounter the Manas.
• Gali and Kopaka agree based on their visions that they must combine to form the Toa Kaita, and they do this.
• The Toa face the Shadow Toa, they defeat them by accepting that shadow is a part of them, as with all beings, and absorb them.
• Teridax first appears as a mere Matoran, and debates philosophically with the Toa.
• Teridax changes form into a swirling vortex of pieces and shadowy tentacles and attacks the Toa.
• The Toa counter by blasting him with their Elemental Power.
• Teridax appears to be defeated, though his parting words threaten that he cannot be destroyed, for he is nothing.
• The Toa are teleported up to Kini Nui.

All years are relative to the time of the Ignika saga.
