The Green Belt is a forest that covers much of Voya Nui. The Matoran of Voya Nui feared it greatly, for it had no visible means of sustaining itself. Some of the Piraka believed that this was where the Kanohi Ignika, the Mask of Life, was hidden, believing that its energy had caused the trees and plant life to grow in such a harsh environment. However, the Green Belt was merely the location where the hidden entrance to the Chamber of Life, through the 777 Stairs, could be found. Much of the Green Belt around the entrance to the stairs was destroyed by Hakann firing his heat vision into a gas pocket, which created a giant fireball that incinerated the plantlife and destroyed the rocks hiding the stairway entrance.
Dagger Spiders were often seen swarming out of crevices in the ground here. It is unknown whether they survived the return to the Southern Continent, although it's doubtful.
After Voya Nui returned to its original position of the continent, Axonn spotted two beings appear in the forest, and went to investigate. He found Toa Krakua and the golden-armored being with the ability to teleport that had replaced Botar, and from there they took him to Daxia.
