Tahnok-Kal was one of the elite Bohrok-Kal, six Bohrok with unique powers far beyond that of any normal Bohrok that were awoken when the Bahrag became trapped. They had only one mission: find the Bahrag and free them so the swarms would be free once more. As the leader of the Kal, this Bohrok-Kal discovered that taking the six Nuva Symbols would rob them of their powers. Tahnok-Kal went to Ga-Koro and stole Gali Nuva's symbol.

Biography

Tahnok-Kal was created as an ordinary Tahnok, which was then exposed to a mutagenic substance by the Bahrag, transforming it into Tahnok-Kal.

No one knows when the Bohrok-Kal first made their appearance above the surface of the island of Mata Nui. Tahnok-Kal was first seen shadowing Takua and Jaller (along with Takua's pet Ussal, Pewku) as the two journeyed to Ta-Koro following the final showdown and defeat of the Bohrok swarms at Ga-Koro. Arriving home, the pair of Matoran discovered a Ta-Matoran guardsman trapped in a floating cage of electricity, and a strange Bohrok-like creature stealing Tahu Nuva's Nuva Symbol from his Toa Suva. Tahnok-Kal quickly imprisoned Jaller in an electrical cage and even defeated Tahu Nuva himself, by bringing a stone archway down on him.

After a first victorious battle against the Toa Nuva, Tahnok-Kal was defeated by Onua and Pohatu, who trapped him under a tree. When it's Krana-Kal was taken, it revealed that the Bohrok-Kal had already discovered the entrance to the Bohrok nest.

Tahnok-Kal and the other Bohrok-Kal eventually found the location of the Bahrag, but they were guarded by the Exo-Toa. After defeating them, they proceeded to the Bahrag's cage and the Nuva Cube. As they began to place the symbols on the cube, the Krana-Kal turned into a silver color, protecting Tahnok-Kal and the others from harm.

Eventually, Tahnok-Kal was defeated along with the other Bohrok-Kal when the Nuva Symbol fed it more power than it could handle, trapping it in an electric cage formed by its own power shields. Whether it is still imprisoned, or whether its power has run out entirely, no one knows.

Abilities and Traits

Tahniok-Kal was the fast, powerful leader of the Bohrok-Kal squad. It had the power of Electricity, which allowed it to send bolts of electricity or to create electric force fields.

Set Information

A Tahnok-Kal set was released in early 2003. It contained 40 pieces and each set included a randomly packed gold-colored Krana-Kal, though 72 random Bohrok-Kal sets were packed with sterling silver Krana-Kal and 5000 with white metal Krana-Kal, both symbolizing the silver form that protected the Bohrok-Kal in the final moments of their mission. Pieces from Tahnok-Kal can be combined with those of Nuhvok-Kal and Pahrak-Kal to create Bohrok-Kal Kaita Za.

Trivia

  • It was Tahnok-Kal who first discovered that stealing the Toa Nuva's Nuva Symbols had the side effect of causing their Elemental Powers to vanish.
