Stone Rats are vicious rodent Rahi.
History
The Stone Rat species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe. Stone Rats are known to live in Skakdi fortresses on Zakaz and the unmaintained portions of the Metru Nui Archives. A significant portion of the species live under Metru Nui.
A swarm of stone rats once plagued Ta-Metru, driven from their nest by an attacking Nui-Rama. However, the problem was soon resolved.
Sometime later, after the defeat of the Morbuzakh, the Toa Metru encountered a swarm of Stone Rats in the Fikou Web, during their search for a leak of Liquid Protodermis. While the Toa Metru crossed a chasm traversed by a cable, the swarm of Stone Rats rose from below and began to gnaw upon the cable. To rescue the others, Toa Vakama weakened the fraying cable with a Kanoka, causing both himself and the Stone Rats to plummet to the ground. Vakama was quickly saved by Toa Matau, and the Toa continued their journey.
Following the Great Cataclysm, a large number of Stone Rats migrated to the island of Mata Nui , along with the Matoran. The creatures began to make their homes in caves and other similar areas. During his adventures, Takua was once trapped in one of these caves, and his friend Jaller had to rescue him. When the Bohrok cleansed Mata Nui, the Stone Rats retreated back within the Matoran Universe. With the destruction of the Great Spirit Robot, the Stone Rats have made their way into the ecosystem of Spherus Magna.
Abilities and Traits
Stone Rats have extremely sharp teeth that can shred even through solid rock.Voracious creatures, Stone Rats will eat any obstacle between them and their food, regardless of the Material. The Stone Rats are distant relatives of the Kinloka species and are also hunted by Longfang for food. The creatures live together in swarms as well.
