History
The Spider Crab species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis as one of the Rahi that inhabit the Matoran Universe.
When the Great Cataclysm caused the earthquake which shattered the Pit and allowed access to the Black Water of Aqua Magna, several Spider Crabs migrated to the ocean above and integrated into its natural ecosystem. The escaped Barraki tamed several Spider Crabs and used them to patrol their territory.
Abilities and Traits
Spider Crabs have claws, tentacles, armor spikes, and a 40cm (15.75 inch) thick protective shell. They are capable of reaching speeds up to twenty-five knots (46.3 Kmph / 29 Mph), and can carry two passengers. Spider Crabs are among the only sea creatures which the Toa Terrain Crawler fears.
Set Information
A Spider Crab was included with the Barraki Deepsea Patrol playset released in 2007. It came with a Squid Launcher mounted on a turret, among other features.
