Shore Turtles are flying swamp turtles that dwell in the vicinity of Le-Koro and the Southern Continent. When the region of Voya Nui was propelled to the planet's surface by the Great Cataclysm, some shore turtles took residence on the new island.
During the Great War, Makuta Teridax had a number of these Rahi infected, although they didn't cause as much trouble as some of the other infected Rahi. They are slow and relatively harmless. The arrival of the Lehvak forced many of the Shore Turtles to move into coastal waters, where they have had a harder time surviving. Gali and the Ga-Matoran had made an extra effort to aid and protect these creatures along with the other swamp Rahi driven off by the Lehvak.
The Shore Turtles of Mata Nui have since migrated back underground. Some of the Shore Turtles of Voya Nui may not have survived the island's descent.

The Shore Turtle was released as part of the BIONICLE Master Builder set. It used 22 of the set's 102 pieces.
