Protodites are microscopic Rahi that have existed since before Mata Nui was first awakened.

History

The Protodites once held in the Onu-Metru Archives escaped their enclosure long ago, where they were preyed upon by the Archives Moles residing there.

When Piraka Zaktan was exposed to The Shadowed One's disintegration eye beams, his body mass was transformed into a swarm of billions of Protodites. These Protodites never stop moving and so Zaktan's body appears to always be writhing. The number of Protodites making up his body was recently greatly reduced when Zaktan was exposed to the Pit Mutagen.

A specific breed of Protodites were used in the Judgement Cannon; this species produced a specific type of mental energy which was harnessed by the weapon and the will of the user.

Protodax are Protodites enlarged trillions of times by the power of the Kanohi Ignika that will attack anyone attempting to steal the Mask of Life.

The Toa Inika encountered a group of these creatures during their quest for the Ignika. The Protodax had the Toa surrounded before being driven away by Umbra.

Abilities and Traits

Protodax look identical to a regular Protodite in shape and figure.

Protodax also possess the ability to clone themselves, which is triggered whenever they are struck by a foe.

Tools

One Protodax carries a Zamor Launcher, taken from a fallen victim, which can fire Zamor Spheres which will permanently shrink a target down to the size of a Protodite.

Set Information

The Protodax can be built out of parts from Piraka canister sets Hakann, Avak, and Zaktan using instructions included in the May-June 2006 issue of LEGO Brickmaster magazine. Its two heads each feature a battery-powered LED in the eyes, activated by pressing on the top of the head. The model was designed by Daniel Lipkowitz.
