Pit War Tortoises are large, tortoise-like Rahi. The Pit War Tortoises in the Pit were recruited by Carapar into his undersea army and the fiercest served as his personal transport in battle. Carapar also mounted two Squid Launchers on all of his Tortoises.

Pit War Tortoises were originally land-dwelling, but when Mahri Nui sunk into the sea, they became water-dwellers. They are believed to have life spans in excess of 100,000 years.

The Pit War Tortoise can be built out of the Barraki sets Ehlek, Carapar, and Mantax using instructions included in the January-February 2007 issue of LEGO Brickmaster magazine. These instructions could also be found on BIONICLE.com.
