History

The original Kaukau of the Naho Falls
The cave behind Naho Falls

The Naho Falls came into being when the Great Spirit Mata Nui's camouflage system was accidentally activated during the Great Cataclysm, creating the island of Mata Nui. They were named by the Turaga of Mata Nui in honor of Toa Naho, a fallen Toa Mangai of Water of Metru Nui.

At the mouth of the falls, a giant Kanohi Kaukau statue was constructed in Toa Mata Gali's honor. The falls were crossed by the Chronicler's Company to reach Kini-Nui during their mission to defend the temple from infected Rahi attacks. The statue at the mouth of the falls was destroyed by Pahrak in the Attack on Ga-Koro during the Bohrok Invasion, in order to create a way to the village. After the Bohrok were defeated, the Ga-Matoran built another statue featuring the great Kaukau Nuva.

When the Toa Nuva reawakened the Bohrok, the Bohrok cleared the falls of vegetation and artificial structures, such as the Kaukau statue. The location was eventually wiped from existence by the Great Spirit Mata Nui's reawakening.
