[carve] History
The Makoki Stones were originally one whole tablet and contained secret inscriptions of detailed information of the Brotherhood of Makuta, carved by Toa. It was guarded in a Toa Fortress; two Skakdi, Vezok and Hakann, stole it while the Toa were under siege by a tribe of Frostelus. Vezok discovered the inscription, but kept this secret to himself. Dark Hunters also planned to sneak into the island and steal the stone; when Ancient found the two Skakdi, he took the stone and recruited them into the Dark Hunters.
During the Toa/Dark Hunter War, Hakann offered the stone as a ransom for the Dark Hunters taken captive by the Toa. Lhikan agreed because his fellow Toa had given their lives to protect the stone; six months after the prisoners' liberation, The Shadowed One stole the stone back. He then broke it into six pieces and auctioned them off one piece at a time. The Brotherhood of Makuta were the highest bidders for all six. Later, the Toa Hagah stole them from a Brotherhood fortress on the same raid during which they stole the Avohkii. The then-mutated Rahaga used the Makoki Stones as keys to hide the Mask of Light, sending the Toa Hordika to collect them later. The former Toa Hordika, now Turaga, used the stones as the keys to open the road to Mangaia when they built the Kini-Nui on Mata Nui. When the Toa Mata brought the Stones to the Suva Kaita, the stones formed into a glowing sphere.
