"It was one thing to know you were always below the Great Spirit on the ladder of power – quite another to be receiving strongly worded "requests" from six jumped-up warlords who didn't know their proper place in things."

The League of Six Kingdoms was a powerful faction consisting of the Barraki warlords and their armies.

[carve] History

After Mata Nui awakened, he employed the six Barraki as rulers of the Matoran Universe in order to maintain peace and harmony throughout the universe. However, the order that the warlords saw fit was the conquest of the universe and the Barraki went about conquering the land. About 1,000 years after they were selected as rulers, the Barraki decided to form an alliance, creating the League of Six Kingdoms, which was just a simple military alliance that the Barraki made with one another.

Several thousand years later, the League formed a trade pact with Metru Nui, to ensure Metru Nui's guaranteed freedom. They also made a deal with the Brotherhood of Makuta (even though the Brotherhood was not pleased with the deal) to create Rahi for the League.

The Barraki managed to conquer most of the Matoran Universe, with the exceptions of Artakha, Metru Nui, Daxia, and the southern islands. Their alliance with Xia meant nothing when it came to who controlled it, as Pridak was assigned to controlling the northeastern region, including Xia. Ehlek controlled the western island chains, including Zakaz. Mantax was assigned to the central regions, and Carapar had the southernmost region. Takadox commanded the southwestern region, while Kalmah controlled the northwestern region.

Eventually, the League became too greedy and planned to overthrow Mata Nui. Takadox became worried that their plan would fail and eventually tipped off the Brotherhood of Makuta about the League's treachery, anonymously. Enraged by the fact that the idea of overthrowing Mata Nui even came up, the Brotherhood assembled an immense army of Toa, Exo-Toa, Rahi and Rahkshi. The army, placed under the control of Teridax, then proceeded to ambush the League's fortress during the Barraki's planning of Metru Nui's capture. The Barraki armies were no match for their formidable foes, making the raid a complete success for the Brotherhood while the armies were either killed, managed to escape, or surrendered themselves. The Barraki, hearing the sounds of the battle, arrived at the scene, and were easily captured and brought to Teridax.

Takadox offered to have the Barraki's forces combined with the Brotherhood's and make Mata Nui's overthrow a success, but Teridax instead ordered the Exo-Toa to eliminate the Barraki. However, Botar, suddenly appeared before the assembled Barraki. He then proceeded to teleport the Barraki to The Pit. No one ever heard or saw from the Barraki again, and the League of Six Kingdoms was disbanded. Their fortresses were destroyed completely and their armies disbanded (while some members were taken to use as slaves). The Barraki's plan to overthrow Mata Nui inspired Teridax to eventually formulate his own plan.

In The Pit, the Barraki conspired their revenge against the Brotherhood, and after the Great Cataclysm, were mutated into sea dwellers by the Pit Mutagen. After Lesovikk and Hydraxon captured all the Barraki (sans Takadox and Carapar, who had already been taken away), Helryx gave them an ultimatum: fight the Brotherhood or die. Pridak agreed, in the hopes of reforming the League of Six Kingdoms.

[carve] Military

While the six Barraki each led their own army, overall command was Pridak's. Smaller units were called legions (one such legion was a Matoran Rear Guard Unit that consisted of 53 Matoran, and was destroyed on Pridak's orders). Battle leaders were also present throughout Barraki armies. Though powerful, the entire army was not as disciplined as the Brotherhood's.
