Lava Hawks are Rahi birds from Voya Nui and the Southern Continent.

The Matoran of the Southern Continent highly prize the Lava Hawks for their scales, which are immune to molten lava. The Matoran often collect the Rahi's scales to build crafts that are capable of surviving passages down streams of lava.
The Lava Hawk can be found on Voya Nui and the Southern Continent. When Voya Nui shot loose due to the Great Cataclysm, some of the hawks survived and managed to adapt to their new surroundings.
When Voya Nui returned to the Southern Continent, the Lava Hawks of Voya Nui may not have survived the abrupt journey back to the Southern Continent.
[carve] Abilities and Traits
Lava Hawks are completely invulnerable to the searing heat of molten lava. They feed on insects that live in the lava, and catch their prey by diving straight into the magma streams. From time to time, they shed their metallic scales, which are lavaproof, and valued by the Matoran.

The Lava Hawk can be built out of the Matoran Velika, Balta, and Piruk sets using instructions split between the three sets.
