Lava Crawlers are large, six-legged crawling Rahi.

History

The Lava Crawler species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.

Lava Crawlers established a colony in the Voya Nui region of the Southern Continent, particularly around Mount Valmai. When the Great Cataclysm caused Voya Nui to rocket upwards to the surface of Aqua Magna, these Lava Crawlers were carried with it and survived the ascent.

They continued to live on the island of Voya Nui for a thousand years until the arrival of the Piraka. A few were domesticated and modified into Caravan Crawlers, on which part of the shell is hewn away to accommodate a Zamor Launcher and potentially a rider.

The Lava Crawlers of Voya Nui may not have survived the island's return to its position on the Southern Continent. It is unknown whether they emigrated to Spherus Magna or died.

Set Information

A Caravan Crawler could be built using parts from the Piraka Outpost and Lava Chamber Gate playsets and instructions from the September-October 2006 issue of LEGO Brickmaster magazine. Its Zamor Launcher featured a cartridge piece that increased its capacity to four Antidermis Zamor Spheres.
