The Kanohi Kraahkan is the only Great Mask of Shadows.

[carve] History

A mask of incredible powers, it was crafted out of Protosteel in Artakha. It was then worn by Makuta Teridax for the next 100,000 years. When Teridax and Takanuva merged to form Takutanuva, their masks also merged, forming the Mask of Light and Darkness. However, Takutanuva and his mask soon split apart. When the Piraka went to the Great Barrier to raid Teridax's lair, Reidak tried to steal the mask. However, it blasted him with Shadow bolts when he picked it up, so he threw it into the Silver Sea. The mask was later retrieved by Icarax, who currently wears it.

[carve] The Kingdom

In "The Kingdom" Pocket Dimension, Takanuva knocked the Kraahkan off Teridax, before Toa Tanma destroyed it.

[carve] Dark Mirror

In Toa Empire Pocket Dimension, the Kraahkan was taken by the Toa Empire and put in the Archives. It was warded, so if anyone touched it, the Toa would know.

[carve] Powers

The Kanohi Kraahkan gives its user Makuta-level range and strength of power over anger, fear, and Elemental Shadow. It also lets the user see darkness in others. The Mask of Shadows will automatically use Shadow bolts to attack non-Makuta who touch it whenever it is not worn. It is one of the few masks to have Elemental Powers. However, it will not boost any pre-existing Elemental Shadow powers.

[carve] Example Usage

In Legacy of Evil, when Reidak picked up the Kanohi Kraahkan, it automatically blasted him with Shadow energy until he released it.

The Kanohi Kraahkan has been released in four different forms. Its first incarnation was released with the original Makuta Teridax set, where it was the first flip-mask to be released. This version was later available, golden in color (in two shades), with the Tower of Toa playset in 2005 as a Kahgarak head.

The second form was released with Takutanuva. The only alteration in this form was one side being made to look more like its movie counterpart.

The third version of the Kanohi Kraahkan to be released was with the Ultimate Dume set. This version is not so much a mask as it is a helmet, being made to fit over Ultimate Dume's head and teeth to cover the eyes, and give the appearance of a mask.

The fourth version closely resembles the Kanohi Kraahkan seen in 2003, except for that where the original has six slits near the mouth area, the 2008 version has four.
