Hoto are fire insects that were native to mostly Ta-Wahi. Their bodies can give off heat intense enough to tunnel through rock and earth, and even some buildings. Hoto bugs were considered pests on both Mata Nui and Metru Nui.

One of the reasons for Toa Iruini wanting to leave his fellow Toa Hagah was because he thought his talents were wasted by dealing with threats such as a Hoto bug invasion.

After the defeat of Makuta Teridax, the Hoto emigrated to Spherus Magna.

Set Information

The Hoto was released as part of the BIONICLE Master Builder set. It used 40 of the set's 102 pieces.

Trivia

• The Hoto were originally planned to make an appearance in the Voya Nui Online Game, but did not. There is still a picture of them as they would have appeared.
