Gar is an Onu-Matoran from Mahri Nui and Defilak's best friend. Gar went on the sea expedition with Sarda, Idris, and Defilak to discover what was preying on the Mahri Nui Matoran. The submarine was torn apart by Takea Sharks as Gar and the other Matoran entered Pridak's territory.

After a brief interrogation by Pridak, he escaped with Idris. They swam to the Fields of Airweed, but found them infested by Keras Crabs. Both would have died had not Defilak pulled them into Mahri Nui. Gar joined with the others to smash the city's Lightstones to drive off the massive Venom Eel attacking.

Gar and the other Mahri Nui Matoran were sent to Voya Nui, led by the Toa Mahri. Axonn took him and the other Matoran to the Nui Caves to survive the descent. Gar has since returned to the Southern Continent.
