[carve] History

Ga-Koro was built by the Ga-Matoran led by Turaga Nokama after the Toa Metru rescued the Matoran from Metru Nui. A huge Rahi called the Tarakava Nui interfered with the construction of the Koro, but was eventually driven away, and the village completed.

After the promised year of peace, Teridax attacked Mata Nui using infected Rahi, and the Ga-Matoran and Nokama fought to defend the village for almost a thousand years. After the Toa Mata arrived, the village was attacked by several Tarakava and heavily damaged. The villagers were trapped inside a hut which was kept afloat by a pump mechanism, but one of the Rahi smashed the pump, causing the hut to sink underwater. Being told of Ga-Koro's predicament by Macku, Takua arrived in the village, repairing the pump with guidance from Nokama. One of the Tarakava then returned, but Gali arrived and defeated it, removing its infected mask.

Shortly after the Toa traveled to Kini-Nui, Ga-Koro came under siege by huge numbers of Rahi. Fortunately, the village had been fortified in advance, and the Matoran managed to hold off the attacks.

Ga-Koro came under attack again towards the end of the Bohrok's first attempt to cleanse Mata Nui. A swarm of Pahrak gathered outside the gates, and the village prepared to fight with the aid of Takua and a number of Boxor. The Po-Matoran fled to the village of water from the Tahnok attacks on Po-Koro, and ended up aiding in the defense as well. The first attack was repulsed when Hewkii destroyed to causeway between the village and the shore, but the Bohrok destroyed the waterfall that night, causing the rubble to form a path from beach to the village. The Pahrak damaged much of the village, but were stopped by the Toa's defeat of the Bahrag. The village was then rebuilt and expanded with the aid of the Krana-less Bohrok.

A short time afterwards, a Bohrok-Kal attacked the village and stole Gali's Nuva Symbol which was kept there. Eventually the Toa Nuva stopped the Bohrok-Kal and returned the Nuva Symbol to Ga-Koro.

After the Matoran were rebuilt at Kini-Nui, Ga-Koro was closed off from the mainland for a month while the Turaga met at Kini-Nui. Soon afterwards, the village hosted the Ga-Koro/Onu-Koro Kolhii match, with Ga-Koro winning.

The village was abandoned with the rediscovery of Metru Nui, and completely destroyed when the Bohrok were awakened a second time.

[carve] Landscape

Ga-Koro was situated just off the shore of Naho Bay in northeastern Mata Nui, surrounded by whirlpools and strong currents that made sea travel treacherous. The village was mainly built on top of huge floating pads, the huts made out of a thick seaweed-like material, and the various pads were connected by walkways made from similar material, with one leading to a gate on the beach. At least one hut in the village required a pump to keep it floating; if the pump stopped working, then the hut sank.

After the defeat of the Bohrok swarms, the village was largely re-designed. The East Garden was located in the eastern section of the village, along with flax maker huts, while the western section contained the shipyard and dock for the ferry. The central section contained a meeting area for the Matoran, while Turaga Nokama's hut was to the north. The south section contained Ga-Koro's Kolhii arena, or Kolhii Pad, and the walkway to the mainland. The original stone gate guarding the entrance to the mainland was destroyed by the Bohrok, and a second gate, also of stone, was built further out onto the water.
