Dweller originally worked on assasination missions using his mental attacks to kill the targets.
The Shadowed One later sent Dweller on a permanent assignment to Metru Nui, after the Great Cataclysm to keep watch over developments there, as the city is a key tactical location to both the Dark Hunters and the Brotherhood of Makuta. He used his powers to monitor information and then send out Rahi with reports to the Shadowed One, also using his power to shield himself from discovery from anyone who wanders the tunnels where he lives (like he did to the Rahaga). He is loyal, intelligent, silent, and incredibly patient. Acting on information from his most recent report, the Shadowed One ordered Dweller to follow Takanuva and strike when he is most vulnerable, opening the way for a Dark Hunter invasion. This did not work, and Dweller's probe was picked up by Takanuva. Before the Toa of Light could reach Dweller, however, he was attacked by a Shadow Leech. Dweller's mental powers proved useless against Brutaka, who captured him and brought him unconscious to Helryx, leader of the Order of Mata Nui. He was later taken by the Order and imprisoned on Daxia.

In the Toa Empire Pocket Dimension, Dweller was never sent to Metru Nui and was killed when the Toa Empire invaded Odina.

Dweller has the ability to reach out and scan the minds of others, gathering information from hundreds of minds for his reports. He can take this further, to drive them insane with nightmares, or to screen himself from the minds of others.

- Dweller was created by Nathan Pavich, sent in to LEGO Magazine Dark Hunter Building Contest, and was given a storyline role by Greg Farshtey and put into the book BIONICLE: Dark Hunters.
