A Doom Viper is a six-headed serpentine Rahi created by Makuta Chirox.

Aside from its multiple heads, the Doom Viper is most notorious for its breath, which is a toxic compound that is capable of killing any living animal or plant life it touches (except other Doom Vipers). Vahki, being machines and thus immune to the venom, were the only ones successful at capturing these Rahi. Interestingly, Doom Viper breath seems to be capable of weakening Visorak webbing.

Doom Vipers were first discovered on a cargo ship docked in the Ga-Metru harbors. Ga-Matoran were surprised to discover that the crew was missing, though the cargo was still intact. Only later was it discovered that the crew had all been killed by Doom Vipers; by that time, the vipers had already begun making their way to the heart of Ga-Metru.

When the Toa Nuva returned to Metru Nui, they had to battle six Doom Vipers. The Nuva defeated the vipers by using their Kakama Nuva to confuse them, after which they attacked them.

Doom Vipers also live on Voya Nui and the Southern Continent. Brutaka saved some Matoran from one by using his Kanohi Olmak to teleport it into Mount Valmai. The rest of Voya Nui's Doom Vipers may not have survived the island's return to the Southern Continent.
