Formerly a place of light, now a location of darkness and greed, Destral is the largest of the infamous bases of the Brotherhood of Makuta. Although Destral does not seem to be barricading itself from visitors, it is filled with hidden weapons and traps, and protected by a garrison of well over a hundred Rahkshi.

In the very beginning, Destral was used by the Brotherhood to create specimen of Rahi to populate the world. Many species of Rahi were created here, until later the Brotherhood's duty was changed into protecting the world from threats. The purpose of Destral was changed again after the Brotherhood's betrayal, and has since been the headquarters and command points for the ongoing wars, along with many experiments which are still being conducted.

When the Toa Hagah discovered the Brotherhood betrayal, they raided the fortress on Destral and stole the Mask of Light and the Makoki Stones while defeating Teridax. However, four of them were ambushed by Roodaka and mutated. When Norik and Iruini tried to save their teammates, they were mutated as well.

Destral was also affected by the quake caused by the Great Cataclysm, leveling the fortress on it. It has since been rebuilt into its current appearance.

More recently, strange creatures were found around the area Destral was before teleporting away. They appeared to be dead mutant forms of Kraata. These were in fact experimental stages of Shadow Leeches.

Vezon and Trinuma are currently traveling to Destral on a mission.

An enormous fortress is located on Destral which contains workshops, laboratories, armories, prison cells, interrogation chambers, living quarters for the Makuta, and a library of forbidden knowledge. It also contains a large amount of Energized Protodermis for the Brotherhood's various experiments.

[carve] Inhabitants

• Makuta are powerful shape-shifters who don't regularly inhabit Destral, but operate from it.
• Visorak are spider-like Rahi who patrol the island.
• Rahkshi are essences of Makuta put into powerful suits of armor, and can be found all over the island.

• Destral is capable of teleportation. How it does this is unknown.
