The Battle of the Ignika was a brief battle which occurred between the Toa Mahri and the Barraki.

[carve] Summary
Hydraxon fired his Cordak Blaster at the Ignika, but the bullet was knocked off course moments before impact by a tide sent by Toa Mahri Hahli. The mask was then grabbed by Mantax, whose curse weakened both Hydraxon and Hahli. When she awakened, she found herself alone, so she returned to her team and together they escorted the residents of Voya Nui and Mahri Nui into the tunnels beneath Voya Nui. Jaller later took the mask from Mantax's hands as Hewkii battled Gadunka and Matoro froze Maxilos/Teridax. Jaller was then confronted by Hydraxon, and attempted to ward off the Pit Jailer using a large blast of Fire. As a result, the fire released Maxilos from his prison of ice, who then commanded Spinax to attack Hydraxon. Matoro retrieved the mask and started heading for the direction where Voya Nui was headed, with the other Toa Mahri following and the Barraki not far behind. Before they could go far, the Ignika turned gray and Matoro realized that Mata Nui had just died. Believing that there could still be a chance, the Toa Mahri decided to split up, with Matoro to continue to follow Voya Nui in its descent while the other Toa Mahri battled the Barraki. As the five Toa Mahri confronted the Barraki and their armies, Jaller prepared to launch a Nova Blast. Meanwhile, Matoro had reached the Southern Continent and had managed to slip under Voya Nui before it sealed the hole to Karda Nui. Before Jaller could kill himself, the Toa Mahri, the Barraki and their armies with his Nova Blast, Matoro put on the Ignika and teleported his teammates to Metru Nui before he transformed into energy which was used to bring Mata Nui back to life.

Matoro used the Ignika, teleporting the other Toa Mahri to Metru Nui, transforming them back into air-breathers. As a result of bearing the Ignika, Matoro transformed into energy which was used to save the life of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. The Barraki remained condemned to the Pit.
When Matoro used the Ignika, a bright light filled Karda Nui and blinded three of the Makuta there, ending the Siege of Karda Nui.
