The Battle for Kini-Nui was a large battle that took place near the end of the Great War. Six Matoran held off waves of Rahi while the Toa Mata confronted Teridax.

The Chronicler's Company defending Kini-Nui.

The battle initiated when the Chronicler's Company, led by Takua, promised to protect the Kini-Nui while the Toa Mata fought Teridax below in Mangaia. Takua himself was unable to paricipate in the fight, as he had a telepathic link with Toa Gali, and was seeing what was happening below.

At first, the six Matoran looked to have an easy task, but then infected Rahi began to appear, and the Matoran had to fight them off with their Disks. Just as it appeared that they had forced the Rahi back, hundreds more appeared. Just then, reinforcements arrived to assist the Chronicler's Company. Kongu, riding his Gukko bird Ka, first appeared to help fight off the Rahi. Seconds later, the Ussalry, led by Onepu, and the Ta-Matoran Guard, led by Jaller, showed up to help end the battle.

There were no Matoran casualties, and the infected Rahi were successfully driven off. At the end of the battle, an Onu-Matoran, riding Pewku, asked Takua to go and visit Onu-Koro, where he would unknowingly travel down into Mangaia and witness the Toa facing Teridax himself. The rest of the Matoran returned to their own villages, just in time to protect them from the Bohrok swarms.
