Battle Against Vezon

The Battle Against Vezon was the battle between Vezon, the Piraka, and Toa Inika, when they arrived in the Chamber of Life. The battled happened in two parts.

- To retrieve the Kanohi Ignika in order to save the Great Spirit's life.

- To retrieve the Kanohi Ignika for wealth and fame.

- Destroy and kill all his foes.
[carve] Battle Against Vezon and Fenrakk
The Piraka break into the chamber, where they find themselves face to face with Vezon and Fenrakk. They start to fight against them, but Vezon defeats them all (except for Zaktan) by fusing Vezok and Reidak to create the Piraka Fusion.
The Toa Inika then enter the chamber and confront the pair. They find out during their fight that Vezon has the ability to absorb the energy of the blows they make, thus making him and Fenrakk invulnerable to attacks. Instead, the Toa try to force the pair into a pit of lava. To their amazement, the pair goes in purposefully.
[carve] Battle Against Vezon and Kardas Dragon
Jaller then prepares himself to dive into the pit in order to retrieve the mask, but instead of doing so, Vezon and Fenrakk re-emerges, with Fenrakk now transformed into the Kardas Dragon. The Toa then continue to struggle against the pair, when Jaller realizes that the Ignika must be sentient and thus orders Kongu to read its thoughts. Kongu finds out that, due to Matoro's attitude to the others, it was the Toa of Ice which the mask wanted to be its guardian. Projecting the thoughts into the Piraka's minds, Vezon is enraged and decides to kill Matoro. However, Jaller takes the chance and fires the Zamor Sphere given to him by Axonn, which freezed the pair. Matoro then steps forward and removes the mask from Vezon's head, when the mask made Kardas unleash one last blast which blew it out of the Toa hands.
[carve] Aftermath
Realizing that they must follow the mask, the Toa begin to follow the Ignika as it leaves the chamber and the tunnels and out into open sea with the Toa and Piraka close behind. Eventually, it goes into the sea, and Hahli along with Matoro (Using his Kanohi mask powers) follows the mask. Hahli nearly drowns in the attempt, but she is saved by a Matoran from Mahri Nui. The Matoran dies, although not before telling the Toa about Mahri Nui. The Toa then reunite with the Toa Nuva and decide to journey down The Cord, while the Toa Nuva pursue other tasks.
