BIONICLE: The Legend Reborn is the novelization of the fourth BIONICLE movie.
Summary
A swarm of Scarabax Beetles cross the desert of Bara Magna and hunt for food. One beetle finds the Kanohi Ignika after it crashes. The beetle calls to the rest of the swarm, and they gather around the object. One Scarabax tries to eat the mask; but the mask rises into the air, making a small twister of sand and all but one beetle flee. Emerging from the storm is Mata Nui. As he takes his first step, he almost crushes the Scarabax under his foot, as he did not notice it. Mata Nui allies with the bug and it climbs up to his shoulder. Mata Nui's mask starts to glow and the beetle is turned into the Scarab Shield. A Vorox attacks Mata Nui from behind, but it is deflected by his shield. Mata Nui trips on a small boulder and the creature's tail bashes the rock, taking its stinger off in the process. The Vorox scampers away in fear out of the crater. Afterward, Mata Nui thanks the scarabax for helping him survive the skirmish.
He is startled by the sound of some sort of vehicle and investigates, with the Vorox's stinger at hand and the beetle on his shoulder. Mata Nui finds that the cause of the noise was Metus in a Thornatus. The Agori drives his vehicle up to Mata Nui and aims his weapon at the golden warrior. He demands Mata Nui to "state his business". Mata Nui tells the being that he is traveling and looking for the nearest city. Chuckling, the Agori remarks that if Mata Nui were to start digging, he would be bound to find the ruins of a city. He introduces himself and offers to drive Mata Nui to Vulcanus, as he has some business there.
When they arrive, a Glatorian match starts and Metus introduces the Glatorian and village leaders of Bara Magna to Mata Nui. One village leader, Raanu, asks Mata Nui's opinion about Ackar's, the red-armored Glatorian, actions in battle. Mata Nui watches the duel between the two Glatorian, remarking that the warrior fights fearlessly. Ackar finishes the battle and wins over Strakk, his opponent. After conceding, Strakk treacherously strikes at Ackar with his Ice Axe from behind, knocking the Fire Tribe Glatorian to the ground. Before Strakk's can finish Ackar off, Mata Nui jumps into the arena to defend Ackar, armed only with his shield and the Vorox tail. Mata Nui defeats Strakk, forcing him to admit defeat, and the white-armored warrior is sentenced to banishment to the Wastelands for dishonoring his tribe in the arena. Ackar thanks his rescuer and tells him that he is in Mata Nui's debt.
