Talk:Sea Gates

From BIONICLEsector01

I just noticed several inconsistencies between several pages about the closing of the sea gates before the Great Cataclysm. Some pages, like Kodan's, state his group only closed one sea gate, while others, like this one, state his group closed all these gates. I don't know which version is correct, it seems the entry of BIONICLE: Encyclopedia on Kodan might be helpful, but I don't have this book.

On a side note was the Kakama-wearing Toa Mangai ever confirmed to be part of Kodan's group? The wording of this page (before I edited it to add that the Kakama was Naho's) make it seems that way, but I wasn't able to find any sources.

There has totally been this discussion before at some point. I don't remember what the consensus was, unfortunately. I'll try and dig up my Encyclopedia (as I had to do the last time this was a thing...).
Logically, it would be that Kodan's group (which wasn't ALL of the Mangai) closed one, some other Toa groups closed others, and Eliminator/Nidhiki/Krekka killed them off after the job was done.
The Kakama didn't necessarily belong to Naho, originally (although apparently now it does, so wheee forgetcons) so I don't think there was every any solid confirmation on that. However, if in fact there was only one gate closed, then it would all tie together, yes. Try and check for the discussions involving Eliminator and the Red Star; those might provide some more background clues. -- Dorek Talk External Image 22:10, 11 November 2014 (CET)
The two answers concerning Eliminator and the Red Star are these one here and here. Nothing about where they died. After some search in the old OGD, the last one is directly infirmed (question by Electric Turahk, Apr 16 2008, 04:08 PM):
1. There seems to be some confusion on the matter right now... Did Eliminator kill all of the remaining Toa from Lhikan's team (Naho, the Toa with the Kakama, the four Toa of Ice, and the two unknown), or did he just kill the two with Kodan?[/quote]
1) He killed the two with Kodan -- the members of Lhikan's team were scattered in different directions, so would have been impractical to send one being out to get them all.
This answer also seems to imply there were several groups of Toa.
I also found out that Greg actually said several times that Naho didn't wear a Kakama on the old OGD. So I'm wondering if that still stands or should be removed, too.
(for reference, here's one of these quotes, by KolSkywalker628, Apr 12 2008, 08:17 PM)
3a)Are Naho falls named after Toa Naho by the Turaga Metru?
3b)Was she one of the Toa that traveled with Kodan?
3c)Did she wear a Kakama (speed)?
3) Yes
3a) No
3c) No
Forgetcons everywhere...
Found nothing directly indicating if the group Kodan plus two Toa closed one gate or all of them.
Found nothing in BA10 either.

Greg does say go with the earlier answer, so if it's citable, then change it up.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the implication was that there are multiple groups, and that they all closed different gates. -- Dorek Talk External Image 19:40, 12 November 2014 (CET)

Well, since the old OGD can only be found in the backup files made by fishers64 on BZP, I'm not sure if that counts as "citable" or not since it's not possible to have a link to it. (It would probably be possible to put the full quote in a reference but that would require to check every time such a reference is added to be sure it's legit) --maxim21 20:06, 12 November 2014 (CET)
Those backups are good enough for me, there's some useful stuff in there. We wouldn't really "cite it" per se, anyway; "Kanohi: Not Kakama[1]" looks pretty dumb. But it's good to keep on hand for reference. -- Dorek Talk External Image 20:42, 12 November 2014 (CET)
Done for Naho's Kakama thingy. I guess I will change the sea gates stuff tomorrow if nobody else find something going another way. --maxim21 08:41, 13 November 2014 (CET)
